Antler chandelier: Mystifying Style Statements
Antler chandelier is a popular form of mystifying style statements. They are usually customized lighting décor item. The general colors of antler chandeliers are crimson, dark brown, pitch black or a mixture of all these hues. The typicality of these designer lighting tools is that they are best kept to the bare minimum. The overall effect of these subterfuges is the optimum with candles instead of any electrical appliance.
Such fittings are usually assigned the walls instead of ceilings. They are also generally poisoned at such a place which is generally viewable right from the entrance. They come in various shapes and sizes, and therefore price ranges. One can go for the real antlers or the synthetically manufactured ones. Both render the charms of wildlife and virility wedded to mystery.
THE TWO TYPES
Antler chandeliers can be of two types, viz., lighting paraphernalia and non-lighting designer tools. The effect of either category is typical. The bare chandelier is also enough to cast its influence on the surroundings. Hence, proper care needs to be taken to ensure that the shade does not mar the effect by being too imposing.
CHANDELIER & ANTLER: THE ROOTS
Chandeliers are ornamental branched dangling supports for lighting. The term ‘Chandelier‘ has its roots in the French language where it is related to ‘candles’. Hence, a person dealing in candles, or anything made from wax like paint, soap, or oil is called a ‘Chandler‘. The beginnings of chandeliers have been traced to the medieval Europe.
WHAT ARE ANTLERS?
On the other hand, antlers are the branched out portions of the chandler. The provisions to hold the bulbs are affixed on these spread-out hands. The nomenclature has its roots in the very design of this lighting device.
The arms of such a chandelier are designed in a fashion akin to the branched horns of stage or any other member of this deer family. The provisions for the bulbs are in the antlered portions.
Antlers are typical of some ungulates (any being having hoofs or any similar structures). Antlers are bony in structure, and they emanate from the head of the organism. Such bony outgrowths from the head are also called ‘horns’. In fact these animals use their antlers for offensive or defensive maneuvers. These protuberances are quite robust; and are formed of the material ‘keratin’ – that constitute the raw material for the claws, hooves and claws as well.
